Just like table tennis, Teqball can be played between two players as a single game, or it can be played between four players as a doubles game. The sport uses a regular-sized 5 football, which is made of leather or any other suitable material.

The highest point (0.76 meters) on the Teq table is at the middle of the playing surface, where a net of height 14 centimetres is installed to separate the two parts. As with any other sport, the game of Teqball follows a standard set of rules, which are laid out by the International Federation of Teqball (FITEQ). Some of the most important Teqball rules you need to know are:

  • Teqball is played with a regular-sized 5 football.
  • A typical Teqball match consists of best-of-three sets.
  • Each set in a Teqball match is played until a player/team reaches 12 points.
  • Each player/team gets two attempts to complete a successful service.
  • In Teqball, the player/team changes service after every four points.
  • A player is not allowed to touch the ball with the same body part twice consecutively.
  • A player is not allowed to return the ball with the same body part twice consecutively.
  • Every player/team is allowed to return the ball with a maximum of three touches by any body part (except hands and arms).
  • In a doubles game, a team gets a maximum of 3 touches, where the teammates must pass the ball at least once to each other.
  • A player can neither touch the Teq table nor the opponent during the gameplay.
